"Moin!", that's how briefly and succinctly we greet each other here in the north, because as you may know, we are sometimes said to be a little short of words. That's not always true, of course, because we do like to have a chat or two. But let's be honest: Who needs big words when he or she is at, in or on the sea? There's nothing better than sitting on the beach or harbour, enjoying the peace and quiet, and watching the ships go by. Soak up the whole Kiel feeling during your stay!

Christmas markets in Kiel
Ahoy in Christmassy Kiel! Stroll through the festively decorated streets and enjoy a tasty treat or a warming hot drink here and there. Kiel's Christmas markets will enchant you with the scent of mulled wine, roasted almonds and a festive atmosphere.

Stadtwerke Ice Festival
From November 13th to January 12th, the Stadtwerke Ice Festival once again invites young and old to go ice skating. Company and Christmas parties, curling, children's birthday parties or ice skating for school classes can already be booked. Tickets for the EisDISCO or the Stadtwerke Kiel MASTERS can also be booked.

Town hall tower ride
The town hall tower is one of Kiel's iconic landmarks. Experience Kiel from above! From a height of 67 metres, you can enjoy an incomparable panoramic view of the city.
Hop on hop off city tour
Feel like you're in a convertible when the sun is shining and sheltered when it's raining – the only way to discover Kiel like this is on the double decker buses.

The Ocean Race Europe
From 6 to 10 August 2025, The Ocean Race Europe can be experienced up close in Kiel. Visitors can expect a five-day water and land programme with cultural, sporting and environmental protection activities to take part in and experience - free of charge and outdoors. Following the successful Fly-By event, Kiel will once again be at the centre of top international sailing in 2025: our state capital is proud to even be the starting port for this exciting, challenging regatta.
