World Fish Roll Day in Heikendorf

Cheers to the "Burger of the North"! On 2 May 2026, things will get really tasty again in Heikendorf harbour when the entire Baltic Sea coast celebrates the official World Fish Roll Day. From 11:00 to 16:00, everything on the Möltenort fjord shore will revolve around the maritime delicacy and the real coastal feeling to bite into.

Food: Fish roll mile & the exclusive "three-catch menu".
Music: Shanties, percussion & Latin rhythms.
Experience: Open ship (lightship & sea rescuers) and maritime stalls.
Kids: harbour rally, bouncy castle & taster sailing (Opti simulator).
Tip: Tickets for the "three-catch menu" (€12) are available from April at the Heikendorf tourist information centre

Culture

The artists' museum in the former studio of the painter Heinrich Blunck offers a permanent exhibition on the Heikendorf artists' colony and four changing special exhibitions every year. It is well worth a visit.
Not far away, the well-known submarine memorial juts out into the fjord on a headland, marking the narrowest point in the estuary. At the top, a mighty 4.60 metre high sea eagle is enthroned on a massive Weser sandstone pillar. Below the pillar, large plaques commemorate all the submariners of German navies who lost their lives at sea in the line of duty.
