Kieler Umschlag
For the Kieler Umschlag on February 2024, former mayor Asmus Bremer will take the helm of the state capital. Kiel's oldest folk festival has its roots in the 15th century and thrills young and old then and now with a fine mix of entertainment, regional culinary delights and unusual merchandise. The open Sunday will be from 1 - 6 pm.
What awaits you
Varied live music, storytellers and various performances round off the programme of the popular event. In addition, Kiel's shops will be open on Sunday under the motto "ICH FÜHL MICH KIEL!" in the spirit of the Kieler Umschlag, which was one of the most important open-air markets in the country in the Middle Ages.
Something going on everywhere
The event traditionally starts with a wake-up call from Kiel's former mayor Asmus Bremer and his wife. A journey through time from the early Middle Ages to the glorious age of the pirates and modern times is offered on the various squares in the city centre. Along the way, authentic stalls, historical figures and long-gone views of the city as well as stories and food from the Middle Ages await your discovery.
