Farmers’ and Local Market

Throughout the city centre, straw figures from the Probsteier Korntage and vintage tractors adorn the event venues. Come and see what there is to discover!

Natural wreaths, jams, knitwear or cheese – at Holstenplatz, there’s something homemade for everyone to take home. A wide selection of autumnal plants rounds off the diverse range on offer. Regional suppliers, supported by the Fördekooperation, are also showcasing their wares here.

Here you can buy and enjoy seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as a wide range of treats such as honey from Kiel and quark balls.

Delicious food and cold beer invite you to feast and linger, whilst the younger guests can try their hand at creative activities. On Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 pm, ‘BuntBewegt’ is offering face painting and glitter tattoos, as well as a giant chess set. Right next door, ‘Friedrich Illustration’ invites visitors to paint postcards with autumnal motifs on Sunday from 12 noon to 4 pm. ‘Der mit dem grünen Hut’ will be conjuring up a colourful, interactive circus programme for young and old from Friday to Sunday, from 2 pm to 5 pm each day.

Here you can get up close to a building site. Explore a backhoe loader from the outside and inside (Sunday, 12 noon – 4 pm). At the free pumpkin-carving session (Sat & Sun, 12 noon – 4 pm), you can let your autumnal creativity run wild.

SEALEVEL – Experience the sea with chestnuts

On Fridays and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm, children can visit SEALEVEL (Holstenstraße 2–12) to make imaginative sea creatures from chestnuts they’ve brought along, under the guidance of staff.

This year, the Old Market is hosting the 15th anniversary of the international blacksmiths’ gathering, where artistic blacksmiths from various countries will be demonstrating their craft live.

Here you can watch the blacksmiths at work, admire unique metal artworks and learn more about this ancient tradition. You can even get involved!

Under the motto ‘Forging for Human Rights’, hearts and candle holders will be made on the spot in exchange for a small donation. All proceeds will go to the human rights organisation ‘Target’.

A special highlight for the whole family!

Outside St Nikolai’s Church, the Flintbek Rural Youth Association will be showcasing its modern agricultural machinery on Saturday and Sunday. You’ll have the chance to admire these impressive vehicles up close and even take a seat in them yourself.

Fun activities all day long! Look forward to an exciting children’s treasure hunt with a certificate, colourful face painting and, as a special highlight, pumpkin carving with the forestry nursery. The Café-Bike will be on hand to provide hot drinks and a cosy atmosphere. Come along and join in!
