Lighthouse Swim – the extraordinary open water experience in Kiel Fjord that uniquely combines sport, environmental protection and active town twinning. With its mix of sporting challenge, maritime atmosphere and conscious sustainability, Lighthouse Swim stands for community, enthusiasm and responsibility. An event that inspires – and brings to life the connection between Kiel, its twin towns and the sea.

Swimming for marine conservation

The Lighthouse Swim aims to work with participants to send a strong message about protecting and preserving the unique marine habitat that makes Kiel so special for locals and visitors alike. The event invites swimmers to take on a special challenge while actively contributing to raising awareness of sustainable marine conservation.

Initiated by the association The Bay Areas e. V., Kiel Marketing and committed swimmers from Kiel and San Francisco, a unifying project is being created as part of the active city partnership. The Lighthouse Swim is accompanied by a diverse and informative supporting programme that focuses on topics related to marine conservation and invites participants to get involved, learn and exchange ideas.
