"Moin!", that's how briefly and succinctly we greet each other here in the north, because as you may know, we are sometimes said to be a little short of words. That's not always true, of course, because we do like to have a chat or two. But let's be honest: Who needs big words when he or she is at, in or on the sea? There's nothing better than sitting on the beach or harbour, enjoying the peace and quiet, and watching the ships go by. Soak up the whole Kiel feeling during your stay!

Kieler Umschlag
Kiel's oldest folk festival comes to the city centre and the Holtenauer Straße. For the Kieler Umschlag, former mayor Asmus Bremer, dressed in historical costume, will take the helm of the state capital. With its roots in the 15th century, the Kieler Umschlag thrills young and old then and now with a fine mix of entertainment, regional culinary delights and unusual merchandise. The open Sunday will take place from 1 - 6 pm for a great shopping spree.

Bathing in the Kiel Fjord
The dreary days are over - it's getting colourful again on the Kiel Fjord! Kiel.Sailing.City invites you to the annual opening of the bathing season. Let's first warm up together and then jump right into the cold Baltic Sea!

The Ocean Race Europe
From 6 to 10 August 2025, The Ocean Race Europe can be experienced up close in Kiel. Visitors can expect a five-day water and land programme with cultural, sporting and environmental protection activities to take part in and experience - free of charge and outdoors. Following the successful Fly-By event, Kiel will once again be at the centre of top international sailing in 2025: our state capital is proud to even be the starting port for this exciting, challenging regatta.
