Live broadcast summer theatre: Faust

Enjoy a real festival feeling: the music was written by Leo Schmidthals and Christian Neander from Selig. The two musicians even perform live on stage themselves as part of the band during the performance and provide the unmistakable Selig sound between gripping rock and poignant ballads.

Seating is available for you at the broadcast locations. However, as experience has shown that these are very popular, we recommend that you arrive early or bring your own picnic blanket or folding chair to be on the safe side. This way you can secure your cosy spot under the summer sky and experience culture for everyone - for free and outdoors!

Since 2012, Theater Kiel has alternated between the summer theatre and the summer opera and fascinates the numerous visitors with the atmospheric open-air performances.

Every year, the programme alternates between summer theatre on the former MFG 5 site and the summer opera on Rathausplatz. For the premiere, there are numerous locations in Kiel and the surrounding area that offer a live broadcast and attract thousands of visitors. The ensemble also captivates the audience on the other performance days with the atmospheric, rousing and magnificent acting, music and singing performances and sets particularly beautiful summer highlights at the impressive locations.

The programme is published in the spring of each year, with performances usually taking place in July and August.
