Live broadcast summer opera

On 19th of July 2025, we are looking forward to hosting a live broadcast of the summer opera "La Traviata", Giuseppe Verdi's most popular opera, performed on Rathausplatz and welcoming thousands of Kiel residents as spectators at numerous live broadcast locations. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy culture in the open air free of charge.

What you can expect

Every summer, the premiere of the theatre is broadcast at unique locations to make culture accessible and free of charge for everyone. Seating is available at all locations, but we recommend that you bring a picnic blanket or your own chairs and make yourself comfortable. You can look forward to a delicious gastronomic offer or bring your own food and drink.
One more tip: We recommend travelling by public transport, as there may be road closures.

The transmission sites

You can enjoy the live broadcast at these public places. The pre-programme of the live broadcast starts at 18:00 (at the boat harbour already at 15:00). From 19:45 there will be a live link to the venue on Rathausplatz. The live broadcast of the summer opera will start at 20:00. There will be a break of around 20 minutes in the middle of the performance. The live broadcast will end at around 23:00.
