A tour with artist Marcus Meyer

An inspiring walk for art lovers and anyone who wants to experience Kiel in a different way.

Under the guidance of artist Marcus Meyer, you will discover impressive wooden sculptures and installations that creatively enrich the cityscape. Meyer's works combine art, nature and environmental awareness and inspire reflection on marine conservation and the future of endangered species. The tour shows how art shapes the urban landscape and offers fascinating insights into the creation, idea and message of his works.

The tour is offered as a long (approx. 2 hours) and a short version (approx. 1 hour).

Town hall tower ride

Take a look at Kiel from a different angle! From the 67 metre high platform you have an incomparable panoramic view over the fjord city - an ideal starting point for an individual exploration of the city. The tower ride is not barrier-free as the visitor platform is very narrow.

Revolution in Kiel

Kiel makes German history: the mutiny of the sailors in Wilhelmshaven shortly before the end of the First World War becomes a revolution in Kiel. The events in Kiel herald the end of the German Empire on 9 November 1918 in Berlin. These dramatic events of the revolution one hundred years ago are recalled and vividly described on a walk through Kiel's city centre.

This guided tour aims to recall the 91 years of Danish rule and show how beneficial they were for the city's cultural and economic development. Even though traces of this era were largely destroyed in the Old Town during the Second World War, there are still plenty of places to discover the Danish past in words and pictures on a walk through the Old Town.

On this city tour, you will get to know the cultural and culinary highlights of the city and sample tasty specialities. Immerse yourself in the history-steeped and lively Blücherplatz neighbourhood on the Blücher tour. Along the way, there are various tastings in small, individual shops as well as exciting stories and amusing anecdotes.

During this guided tour, you can take in beautiful residential buildings from the Wilhelminian era, the park around the Schreventeich pond that gives the city its name and much more. The small alleyways with their individual shops are of course a must during the tour, as is a taste of Kiel's delicacies here and there.

The Dutch tulip merchant Jan van Luup settled in Kiel around 1685 and bought a house with neighbouring buildings in Düsternbrooker Gehölz, which was located outside Kiel at the time. Here he set up his laboratory for the cultivation of unusual tulips and other flowers. He quickly arouses the interest of various members of Kiel society, who admire his exotic home furnishings, his valuable library and, above all, his plant experiments, but also observe them with envy and suspicion. 3 years later, his murder shocks the people of Kiel. The circle of potential perpetrators is large and includes many from high society. Can investigator Bergengruen convict the perpetrator? Join us on a tour of discovery through the dark side of the old town and help investigator Bergengruen solve the case.

Investigate the well-known locations in Kiel together with an expert city guide and learn the exciting background to the Tatort episodes with Chief Inspector Klaus Borowski, alias Axel Milberg. During your captivating investigation tour, you will get to know Kiel from a completely new and exciting perspective: From the discovery of a body on the fjord steamer, interrogations at Tiessenkai to the chase on the Holtenau High Bridge.
