A day in Kiel – for active people
Would you like to experience Kiel at its most active and explore the city on your own, on the move? Then this day is just the thing for you! From coastal cycle rides to refreshing stand-up paddleboarding on the fjord and exciting spots right by the water, our perfect active day will show you just how much energy the city has to offer.
8–10 am Maritime cycle tour
Enjoy a discovery tour of the city’s maritime side on this maritime cycle tour. You can choose between a 20-kilometre or a 43-kilometre route. We recommend hiring a bike from the Sprottenflotte for this.
10 am, breakfast in a café
No matter where your cycle ride along the fjord takes you – in Kiel, the nearest cosy café is never far away. Treat yourself to a hearty breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee after all those kilometres in the saddle!
11.30 am: A stroll along the Kiellinie
The Kiellinie is the perfect place to take a break by the water! Take a leisurely stroll along the Kiel Fjord or lace up your trainers and enjoy the fresh sea breeze and the magnificent views.
1.00 pm, stand-up paddleboarding at the sailing camp ( Kiellinie)
At the “Sailing Camp powered by Stadtwerke Kiel” on the Kiellinie, you can hire a SUP, take part in a variety of courses or head out onto the water on a sailing trip. And if the weather isn’t on your side? Then head to the Hörnbad for a relaxing swim!
3.00 pm Walk to the marina
From the Kiellinie, set off towards the marina. Your walk takes you past Kiel Castle, through the historic Dänische Straße and across the Alter Markt – so you can combine your walk to the waterfront with a little stroll through the old town!
3.30 pm Lunch break at the marina
Time for a bite to eat! There are some great restaurants around the marina serving really tasty food. Whether it’s crisp, fresh bowls, juicy burgers or light meals – you’ll find just the right thing here to recharge your batteries for the rest of your day in Kiel.
5.30 pm Bowling
To make the evening an active one, we recommend going for a game of bowling again. There are two places to go in Kiel: Champs Bowling Kiel and Ricks Bowling Club.
Dinner by the water
Dinner with a view of the fjord: round off your active day right where Kiel is at its most beautiful – right by the water! In the restaurants along the fjord, you can enjoy delicious specialities, fresh sea air and an unbeatable view.
