You can buy these incredibly creative flavours – such as beetroot with candied walnuts, ricotta and grapefruit with black sesame, apricot ice cream with green peppercorns and more – at various beach bistros along the Baltic Sea coast.

The Kiel-based company ‘Packeis’ is bringing ice lollies to the people of Kiel. Inspired by the classics from their childhood, the ice-cream makers focus on what really matters: simple ingredients without any frills, and great flavour! Better still: the milk, cream and quark come from local farms, and fruit is only used when it’s in season here. As you stroll along the Kiellinie, it immediately catches everyone’s eye: the Eiskönig’s little heart-shaped van. Strictly speaking, Yomaro has no business being here at all, as you can’t actually buy ice cream there. But you can get frozen yoghurt!
