Zukunftsraum

The Zukunftsraum has shown how digital technologies such as smart mirrors, interactive shop windows, digital signage and a strong online presence can turn shopping into a real experience and innovation space. This keeps the local economy at the cutting edge - even beyond physical boundaries.

The Zukunftsraum project has officially ended - the space has been closed since November 2025.

Thanks to Bemotion 360, you can now experience the innovative concept digitally: Discover how the future of shopping has been designed in Kiel.

This is how the Zukunftsraum  was used:

Zukunftsraum x Helly Hansen

The Norwegian clothing company Helly Hansen opened its first own store in Germany: in Kiel's Zukunftsraum. Until 30 September, Helly Hansen sold sailing equipment and sportswear here, using the full range of digital shopping tools such as the Smart Mirror and touchscreens.

Zukunftsraum x IKEA

While the interior of the Zukunftsraum was redesigned to provide even deeper insights into the combination of stationary retail and innovative digital tools, ViWiQ's digital shop window, which was decorated by IKEA, attracted everyone's attention. The result was an impressive online sales area that captured the attention of passers-by.

Zukunftsraum x Vintage Fashion

From 22 November 2024 to 25 January 2025, Vintage Fashion once again hosted a unique shopping experience at Holstenstraße 22 in Kiel's city centre. While people tried on their favourite items on site, their companions were able to browse the complementary online range on a tablet and place an order to take home. The digital mirror made it possible to record a video and share it directly on their favourite social network. At the end, the shopping experience was completed conveniently, in cash, by card or with Kiel's digital payment method, the KielGutschein.
