Art on the beach in Heikendorf

The municipality of Heikendorf not only attracts visitors with its beautiful beach, cosy beach huts and picturesque sunsets - art lovers can also embark on an inspiring discovery tour here...

Colourful and curious

The Kaufhaus der Kunst is a treasure hunt, because owner Sabine Luehr's realm hides unusual, funny and special gift ideas. In addition to wooden coasters with Kiel Fjord prints and desk lamps made of driftwood, there are also etchings, woodcuts and large-format acrylic paintings by the owner herself to marvel at. The freelance artist travels the world a lot for her job. Always on the lookout for interesting new suppliers for her beautiful shop.

Art in the kiosk

After or even during a visit to the beach, there is a special kind of art experience to discover: The small art kiosk is located in the centre of the promenade on Möltenort's main beach. Various artists from the region exhibit their works here during the summer months - to take away or to order.

Studio 10

Anett Schadowski's Atelier 10 is also located in the immediate vicinity of the beach. The artist, who was at home in the field of "experimental painting" for many years, dedicates her Heikendorf studio to "printing". She uses the new technique of Gelli printing to give the old technique of monotype a new lease of life. Every single print she produces is unique. She prints on large sails that have already travelled many nautical miles, giving them a new purpose. Colourful sails printed with fish, numbers and symbols hang in front of and inside her studio, fluttering and shining in the wind. Each one of them tells its own story.

Art Museum

Exciting art in a fairytale house, surrounded by a blossoming garden with marvellous resting places. This idyllic setting awaits you when you visit the Heikendorf Artists' Museum. The former property of the painter Heinrich Blunck (1891-1963) is still adorned with some of the trees and shrubs of his time. There is a sculpture or another work of art to discover in every corner. The two-storey historic studio building houses works from the Heikendorf artists' colony, ranging from late Impressionism to the fading Expressionism of the post-war period. The Heikendorf artists' colony consisted of a group of artists who worked in Heikendorf and the neighbouring villages on the Kiel Fjord in the last century. In the former home and studio of Heinrich Blunck, you will find regional art in the context of temporary exhibitions of European and international painting.
